Academy Music Group (AMG) is the UK’s leading owner and operator of live music and club venues, including London’s iconic O2 Academy Brixton and O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, as well as a portfolio of renowned sites across major regional cities.
With events spanning live music, comedy, sport and corporate functions across 21 venues, AMG needed a technology partner capable of deploying quickly, scaling consistently, and adapting to the demands of a high-footfall, fast-paced event environment.
The Goal

AMG wanted to increase transaction speed to improve the customer journey, boost order turnover, and ultimately reduce wait times. In addition, they aimed to strengthen their reporting capabilities at group level, gaining real-time visibility of overall performance. At the same time, modernising service operations was a priority, with handheld POS devices enabling additional service points across Bars, Food, Cloakroom, and Box Office outlets.

Today, 96% of devices installed at AMG are all-in-one mobile EPOS payment terminals, operating on a one device one operator basis. This enables venues to deliver fast, personal, one-to-one service across the full range of card payments. The handheld solution also gives AMG the flexibility to deploy service points anywhere in their venues, supporting a wide variety of events including Live Music, Comedy, Sport, and Corporate functions.
In addition, Kappture’s reporting capabilities, combined with a number of bespoke developments for AMG, now provide streamlined financial reporting, detailed operator sales analytics, and real-time dashboard views across all sites. These insights empower AMG’s teams to make proactive, data-driven decisions during live events.
Looking to the future, AMG recognised the importance of staying at the forefront of service technology.
