The Challenge

When reviewing its existing technology estate, the University of Nottingham was looking for a platform capable of supporting a more modern, high street-style hospitality experience across campus.

The university required a solution that could:

“Kappture have been supportive in helping us to deliver in a rapidly changing landscape. We’ve moved from a fully manned EPOS system to include kiosks which support self-service ordering and quick scan fast lanes to both help the customer experience and free up team members to help deliver a better environment for both staff and students. The kiosk improvements have been key, with average transaction value increasing by around 15% at outlets where they’ve been installed. This is a key area we’re looking to improve further moving forward with the rollout of additional kiosks to more outlets. One example has been the development of enhanced kiosk ordering functionality, allowing students to build and customise orders in greater detail during the ordering journey, similar to experiences commonly seen across major high street restaurant brands. This flexible ordering capability can be applied across a wide range of food and beverage use cases, helping improve both customer experience and operational efficiency.

The partnership has also focused on exploring new technologies across campus operations, including the continued rollout of self-service and quick scan ordering experiences, alongside ongoing development of the student app to further support loyalty, ordering convenience, and evolving higher education requirements.

A Long-Term Partnership

The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Students’ Union have been valued partners of Kappture since 2020, with the relationship continuing to grow through ongoing collaboration, innovation, and long-term planning.

More recently, the partnership was further strengthened through a long-term contract extension, reinforcing a shared commitment to continuing the development of modern campus hospitality and retail experiences.
